The British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) provides audio equipment on a free loan basis to those people living with sight loss.
To mark its 90th anniversary, the charity is bringing its “Reaching Out” campaign to Shrewsbury to raise awareness of the service. Sophie Wheldon, Regional development manager for Shrewsbury said “Our radios are specially designed for us so that a person with sight loss can use them easily and independently”
“All our equipment is delivered by a registered volunteer who will set it all up and provide training and support in in using it. Our radios are vital to someone who cannot see. They provide news, information and entertainment but also, more importantly companionship and a friendly voice. It’s more than a radio.”
