Event description: While this showing of “The King & I” is noted as Dementia Friendly, it is open to everyone. When we have Dementia Friendly screening, the content is the same but there are a few little changes. Many people living with dementia feel isolated, cut off from society and their local community. An afternoon at a relaxed cinema screening can re-engage people living with dementia and leave them feeling enriched.
A regular cinema screening can be daunting with loud music, dark shadows and inaccessible seating. At a relaxed seating, audiences can sing, dance and move around in a relaxed and warmly lit environment with more comfortable sound levels and trained ushers on hand who understand patrons’ needs. At Wem Town Hall we bring you regular Dementia Friendly films which are open to anyone to attend.
How much does it cost?
Tickets are only £5 and include a tea or coffee and a biscuit during the interval. Light entertainment is also provided. Carers Free – please note that Carers tickets are not available online.
Parking: A drop off point is provided at the back of the venue for mini busses and private cars. Please do not park here as it is needed for access.
