One of the aims of Shropshire Disability Network is helping to give disabled people and carers in Shropshire a voice. At the request of some of our members we submitted to Shropshire Council your concerns on changes re “Proposed” Pedestrian Zone of Pride Hill and Butcher Row, Shrewsbury.
As of today (Tuesday 28th May 2019) the new traffic regulations come into effect. Note, these new regulations also apply to Blue Badge Holders.
SDN has received official notification from Shropshire Council as follows:
On 23 May 2019 Shropshire Council made an order to introduce a Pedestrian Zone
on the following roads in Shrewsbury:
- The entire length of Pride Hill.
- Butcher Row – from its junction with Pride Hill for a distance of 40 metres in a south-easterly direction.
The Pedestrian Zone will comprise the following traffic restrictions: THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (PRIDE HILL AND BUTCHER ROW, SHREWSBURY) (PROHIBITION OF ACCESS) ORDER 2019
- Prohibition of all vehicles (this includes cycles) between 10 am and 4 pm;
- Outside these times vehicles may enter the Zone to access premises, and to load and unload;
Prohibition of parking at any time. In this case the prohibition also applies to vehicles displaying the disabled persons’ blue badge;
