We will be meeting at Oswestry Ironworks, Whitehall, Aston, Oswestry SY11 4JH for a textile & falconry demonstration.
Ludlow at St. Peters Church, Henley Road, Monday 13th June 10.30 am -12.30 pm.
We will be having a demonstration by Vision Aid who will tell us about equipment available for people with vision loss.
Shrewsbury Cycling at Sundorne Sports Village-Wednesday 15th June10.30 am-11.30 am
We will be having our cycling session at Sundorne Sports Village, Sundorne Shrewsbury SY1 1RQ
Shrewsbury Monday 25th June at 2 pm -Love Plants
We will be visiting Love Plants, Emstrey Shrewsbury SY5 6QS. Rachel will be contacting group members as soon as more information is available.
Shrewsbury Flower Show: 12th & 13th August
As in previous years, Sight Loss Shropshire are happy to collate requests and apply to the Horticultural Society for complimentary tickets.
Please let me know if you would like to attend the Flower Show before 20th June 2016
The ticket gives free entry on either day to a visually impaired person; carers will be admitted free of charge with supporting documentation (i.e. registration card), in line with the Horticultural Society’s accessibility policy. If the tickets are over-subscribed, preference will be given to people who did not have a ticket last year.
Touch 2 See Books
A new Touch 2 See Book Club is being set up at the Library at the Lantern Shrewsbury. The Book club uses resource packs created by award winning charity Living Paintings. They make special versions of pictures with raised surfaces (called thermoforms) that come to life when fingers feel them. A sound recording directs the fingers over the raised image, describing the features of the picture & telling the stories of the image.
The first Touch 2 See Book Club will be on Monday 6th June 10.30 am – 12 noon at The Lantern, Meadow Farm Drive, Shrewsbury SY1 4NG
