Event description: Once again we will look forward to welcoming members to our meeting. Guests are always welcome.
Come along and hear about our work in the last three months. We will have two guest speakers.
Breaking News!! Due to unforeseen circumstances Orthoplastics not be speaking at this Thursdays meeting so we will try to re-organise for next year. Thank you to OSCA citizen advocacy group, who have come to the rescue by providing a speaker. OSCA support and represent people primarily, but not exclusively, with learning disabilities throughout Shropshire.
How, Where by whom, was that artificial joint made? Mark Allan-Technical Director from Orthoplastics Limited will do a presentation on the work they do. Mark originated from Shrewsbury but now lives & works in Lancashire.
Orthoplastics is one of only 3 places in the UK that make artificial joints. Have you had a hip, knee, toe, shoulder replacement. Have you ever thought where or how that joint is made? Come along and find our more. One of our Management Committee members was offered a tour of Orthoplastics in Lancashire last year. She saw a knee being made. It is not “one knee fits all” so come along & find out more about this specialised work. It is not often Orthoplastics meet the “user” their work usually takes them to hospitals & pharmaceutical companies so this is a first! Please make Mark welcome back to his home town.
Our other guest speaker is Rachel Harding – Project Coordinator for “Me & You” which is a lottery funded project at Albrighton Trust for disabled and special needs young people during their transition years. Albrighton Trust is a Charity that provides educational, recreational and leisure facilities for mentally, physically and sensory disabled users.
At all our Quarterly meetings we have two Sign Language Interpreters enabling the Deaf & Hard of Hearing to take part.
As usual we will have our quarterly raffle as it goes towards meeting cost expenses.
Anyone wishing to have an Information Stand at this meeting (see more details under the “About Us” Tab on this website) please contact admin@shropshire-disability.net For all other queries including attendance, apologies please contact Russell our secretary.
