Event description: We are pleased to go to pastures new for a Members meeting-a first in the South of the County and we are looking forward to it.
We look forward to welcoming our guest speakers:
David Rees Co-Author of the book “Why are you pretending to be normal?” This book was written with Dr Phil Friend OBE and the foreword is written by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE, DL
‘Why are you pretending to be normal?’ asks the questions that anyone with a disability needs to ask themselves. This engaging story offers viewpoints and ideas that have already inspired many disabled people to stop simply coping with their disability and start managing it.
David now living in South Wales came from Shrewsbury, Shropshire-educated at the Priory Boys Grammar School, so please come along and give David a Shropshire Disability Network welcome. There will be opportunity to purchase his book with a donation from each copy sold on the day to our funds!
We will also welcome Lizzie Evans from Headway Shropshire. Lizzie is going to talk about the work of Headway. Many of us know Headway work with people who have brain injury, but what exactly is a brain injury? Are we born with it? Can we acquire it? How important is it to wear a helmet when cycling etc.
So come along and give a great SDN welcome to both our speakers and make our first visit to Craven Arms worthwhile.
Anyone wishing to have an Information Stand at this event with or without a 5 minute talk should look at details under the “About Us” tab on this website.
Shropshire & Mid Wales Pituitary Group will have a promotional stand at today’s meeting.
We look forward to welcoming Members and guests to this meeting.
We will also have our quarterly raffle as it helps fund the meeting.
