The next meeting of the Forum will be on Wednesday, 19th June, at 2 pm at White House Hotel, Watling Street, Telford, TF1 2NJ,, where we have been very comfortable in the past. To get there, leave the M54 at Junction 6 and follow the signs to Whitchurch and the Bucks Head football ground, with which the hotel shares a large, free car park. A map is attached.
The main business of the day will be a talk by Ann Shaw from West Mercia Police on the important subject of Disability and Harassment. This will be followed by a presentation by Sue Hall, who teaches sign language at Telford College of Arts and Technology. Sue has no speech, but teaches by a combination of signing, gestures and notes, finding ways for all to take part. It should make for an interesting session.
It is also time for our Annual General Meeting; As was the case last year, we will keep the formal business (always a turn-off for meetings) to an absolute minimum. The existing committee members are all standing for re-election, but we badly need a replacement Secretary (I have been struggling on for months after resigning due to health problems!) and more committee members. In particular, we would like to see representatives of the Deaf Clubs and Hard of Hearing Clubs. A nomination form is attached to this notice and we really would appreciate your contribution. The committee normally meets about once a month and offers a real opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the deaf and hearing-impaired community throughout Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
The formal agenda will follow shortly.
