Event title: Room on the Broom (Relaxed Performance)-Cancelled
Venue: Birmingham Hippodrome, Hurst Street, Southside, Birmingham B5 4TB
Name: Birmingham Hippodrome
Telephone: 0121 689 1060
Event description: Our relaxed performances are open to all, but created for people with special needs who may find the theatre challenging. This includes people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, learning disability, or sensory and communication disorder.

We encourage and create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and able to react to a show as they wish. We sell fewer seats, which means more room for wheelchairs and more space and comfort.

Attendees are welcome to walk in and out of the auditorium as they please and make noise throughout. Certain aspects of staging are also adapted to suit the audience. The script may be simpler, bright lights and loud noises reduced, and house lights raised so the auditorium is not completely dark.

We also have a calm space nearby, with beanbags, sensory toys and bubble lights, for when people need it. All front of house staff are trained in advance of all relaxed performances.

About the show: Jump on board the broom with the witch and her cat in Tall Stories’ fun-filled adaptation of Room on the Broom, the best-selling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The witch and her cat are travelling on their broomstick when they pick up some hitch-hikers – a friendly dog, a beautiful green bird and a frantic frog. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – it snaps in two… just as the hungry dragon appears!

Will there ever be room on the broom for everyone? Find out in the magical, musical Olivier Award nominated show for everyone aged 3 and up.
