News from Wem Town Hall

Each month Wem Town Hall hold Dementia Friendly shows as well as Songs from the Movies: Interactive Singing sessions for People with Dementia. From March 2020 they will be adding in a dementia friendly movie matinee on different day to allow for greater opportunity to take part. Their first additional film showing will be Sister Act on Friday 6th March, also part of Wem Town Hall’s 10th Birthday celebrations so please come and help us celebrate. Tickets: £5, Carers Free (not available online) – includes refreshment.

At Dementia Friendly movie matinees Wem Town Hall staff hope that you enjoy a laid back informal way, view and experience films. The seats are set out on the flat floor around small tables in a cafe style. The lights are kept on at a low level and they always make sure the sounds levels aren’t too high. They have an interval so everyone can have a chat over an all important cuppa and a biscuit before catching the end of the film. Wem Town Hall have specially trained ushers are on hand to assist and help navigate the venue.
