Event description: This seminar aims to help new, and new(ish) Trustees make an effective contribution to the governance of their organisation. There is a nominal charge of £10 for RCC Member organisations (£15 for non-RCC member organisations) to cover room costs and refreshments.
Being a Trustee is an invaluable and satisfying voluntary role but one which also brings obligations and legal responsibilities with it. This seminar will guide you through the role of a Trustee as well as the legal framework surrounding Trusteeship and the responsibilities you have towards the organisation and its beneficiaries
The session will include:
- Understanding what it means to be a Trustee, who can be one, what roles and responsibilities Trustees may have and the role of specific officers
- Understanding of what trustees may be liable for and how to limit potential risks
- Understanding the principles of good governance, and the difference between the Board and its sub-committees
- An overview about what makes an effective Board
Who should attend?
This course could form part of an induction for a new trustee or a refresher session for existing trustees and senior staff.
The trainer for the session will be Clair Moelwyn-Williams, BSc FCA, Director at Whittingham Riddell within the Audit and Assurance Team where she focuses solely on advising charities, independent schools and not-for-profit entities. She is a regular speaker at external charity events
