Shropshire Rural Communities Charity (RCC) is expanding its support groups for people living with dementia or memory loss and the family members who care for them.
Shrewsbury Care and Share Group will launch on Friday 8th November at St. Peter’s Church, Monkmoor Road, Shrewsbury SY2 5BL, The meet ups offer “mutual support”-partners take turns to have a break while their loved ones are safe and happy in the company of the rest of the group.
At present there are four Care and Share groups in Shropshire. They are at Church Stretton, Market Drayton, Albrighton and Ludlow. Members meet every fortnight and take part in activities including memory games, crafts, gentle exercise, reminiscing, listening to speakers and socialisng with each other.
The groups have been set up by Shropshire RCC as a result of receiving a grant from a fund set up by the Government to help tackle loneliness.
