Event description: Many people living with dementia feel isolated, cut off from society and their local community. An afternoon at a relaxed cinema screening can re-engage people living with dementia and leave them feeling enriched.
A regular cinema screening can be daunting with loud music, dark shadows and inaccessible seating. At a relaxed seating, audiences can sing, dance and move around in a relaxed and warmly lit environment with more comfortable sound levels and trained ushers on hand who understand patrons’ needs. At Wem Town Hall we bring you regular Dementia Friendly films which are open to anyone to attend.
High Society-Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly sparkle in MGM’s delightful musical comedy, a remake of The Philadelphia Story.
Set amongst the rich and famous of Newport, the action revolves around the wedding plans of socialite Tracy Lord (Kelly) who’s preparing for her wedding, when journalist Mike Connor (Frank Sinatra) turns up to cover it, while her ex-husband (Crosby) turns up too, hoping to win her back… Complete with glorious Cole Porter songs and a star turn from Louis Armstrong, it’s also notable as Kelly’s farewell performance before she packed her bags for Monaco.
