It is with much sadness that Shropshire Disability Network has to inform You, our much loved Patron Emma Suddaby finally lost her hard fought battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She died peacefully at her home on 17th May 2014
Emma’s regular column in the Shropshire Star won her many admirers as She shared her views on a host of current issues including topical items like windfarms, the plight of the NHS, smartphones, as well as difficulties experienced by those living in rural areas. When opportunities arose, She would mention SDN not only in her column but at every given opportunity. The Shropshire Star published a very moving tribute to Emma last weekend.
Many of you will remember how delighted we were in early 2010, as Emma accepted our invitation to be our Patron. We felt it was important that it was a local person, who would get to know us, as well as someone who could relate to “living with a disability” and who would promote what SDN is all about. Emma did this admirably.
In paying our own tribute to Emma, which you will be able to read in full in the June edition of “Your Voice” Sonia Roberts our Chairperson said
“We are all deeply sadden by Emma’s death, she was a great role model and never let this awful disease define her…..” Sonia Roberts.
Our thoughts are with Emma’s family and we sends our condolences to all Emma’s family at this very sad time.
Emma’s Funeral will take place on Tuesday 3rd June. Click here for details.
