The Derwen College Vocational Pathway is for young adults aged between 16 and 25 with learning difficulties, disabilities and challenging needs who live in and around the south Shropshire area.
As a learner on the Vocational Pathway you will work in a small group in an office environment. There will be a range of work based activities in business and IT as well as retail. In addition, the Pathway will help you improve your English, maths and ICT. You will be supported to develop your confidence and work preparation skills, as well as your personal, social and independence skills. Your timetable will be designed around you to ensure your development and progression needs are met. Where appropriate you can gain accreditation.
There will be a range of practical, work-based activities to include:
- Art & Design 2D and 3D up to level 2
- Practical horticultural skills up to level 2
- BTEC Vocational Studies (Sports & Fitness Pathway) up to level 2
Enrichment activities include:
- Art & Crafts
- Independent living skills e.g. Food prep and house keeping duties
- Sport elements
- Digital media
- Community access (Out and About)
