Event description This Dementia Awareness Week (14-20 May), Alzheimer’s Society wants everyone across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to take action and unite against dementia. Dementia will affect us all, with someone developing it every three minutes, and so many people are facing it alone.
Alzheimer’s Society in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin is running a United Against Dementia day on 20 May. Together with local communities in Church Aston and Muxton we are putting on a day of events, connecting them together with a journey between the two.
In the morning there will be a Vintage tea at Church Aston parish church, with opportunities to reminisce through games, music, and interactive exhibitions, as well as find out more about local opportunities through stands.
Later in the afternoon Muxton Parish Church are running a Dementia Friendly Film showing of “Singin’ in the rain”. Again there will be opportunities for people to find out more about local activities through stands.
Between the two events we are encouraging people to unite and join us on a journey between the events: There will be a walk where people can make a public display that people want to unite against dementia, as well as opportunities for people to use the handy bus route to show their support.
