Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is offering ‘Could it be Cancer?’ talks to groups in our community, to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the most common cancers, and encouraging people to take part in screening programmes- they really can be a lifesaver!
Lingen Davies exists to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales. This includes helping people recognise symptoms and seek treatment early, when it is more likely to be effective.
The talks are delivered by Dr Bruce Eden, a trustee of Lingen Davies and retired GP. Bruce has a wealth of experience in supporting people with cancer. He was Clinical Chair of Shropshire Primary Care Trust 2001-2006, and Primary Care Lead for the Greater Midlands Cancer Network 2009-2013. Bruce has been a trustee of the charity since 2009.
He is currently focusing on the most commonly occurring cancers- Breast, Bowel, Prostate and Lung. However, talks can be modified to meet the needs of your group, or to focus more specifically on a type of cancer. The sessions are informal and accessible to everyone. There is no charge for our talks, but all donations to the charity are gratefully received.
If you would like to arrange for Bruce to visit your group, please contact Naomi Atkin, Lingen Davies Executive Officer, on naomi.atkin@sath.nhs.uk. To find out more about Lingen Davies Cancer Fund visit their website
