We have been asked by Shropshire Deaf and Hard of Hearing to share details of the clear surgical masks campaign for health and social care professionals. Members stories during COVID 19 are being collected regarding the difficulties face masks have caused the the deaf community. They want to promote the wearing of clear masks which would enable those people who need to lip read to be included in conversations.
Can you share your experiences and the barriers that you have faced with the conventional masks and how clear masks would benefit you? They will be using these stories to create case studies to be included in communications to MPs to influence the Department of Health to begin production of clear masks. Clear masks will not only be of benefit and value to the deafened community but will improve effective communication for all within our healthcare settings, during and importantly after COVID 19.
