Event description: The Beautiful Burial Ground project is offering Shropshire Disability Network a training session at Shropshire Archives, Castlegate, Shrewsbury on Monday 25th February to those interested in the stories told by our burial grounds.
The session will run 1:30pm – 3:30pm, It will cover an introduction to the archive as well as how to use the archive to investigate the lives and stories in your local burial ground. Places are free thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The burial grounds in the midst of our communities tell us about changing fashions and traditions, immigration and of lives both long lived and tragically short. Come along to the session and learn which resources to use when investigating the stories behind the stones where you live.
Inside, all public areas, including the toilets, are accessible to wheelchairs. A hearing loop is installed.
The Archive has a ‘clear star viewer’ which uses CCTV technology to enlarge pages from printed books for you. We also have a hand-held video magnifier, which you can use with documents and maps in our Search Room.
Free guides to sources can all be printed in large text on request.
To book your place please contact Ann our secretary by calling/texting 07970 816030 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
If you need a parking space or BSL sign language interpreter or transport please tell Ann when you book your place.
