The Trustees of the British Deaf History Society extends its invitation to you to attend the launch of its latest BDHS publication The Vanishing Missioner by Martin Smith

Martin Smith’s book gives a personal account of his professional experience of working with Deaf People from 1957 to his retirement in 1992. ‘The Vanishing Missioner’ tracks the early socialisation process which the author went through in order to become a Missioner/Superintendent/ Welfare Officer. It also details how he instituted other methods of working with Deaf people to fulfil perceived needs.

The event will be launched by John A. Hay MBE, Chair of BDHS, before introducing Martin Smith who will give an author’s insight. A stall of other BDHS publications will also be present. Light refreshments and wine/tea will be provided after the launch.
