Alan Ward Shrewsbury helps local Charities with Festive extravaganza

We are very pleased to be taking up a very kind offer by Alan Ward to raise some funding at their first festive extravaganza being held in their new “arena” at their Ennerdale Road site in Shrewsbury on Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December 10 am-4 pm.

With no cost for a space, this is a real boost for us, as we are a small charity, doing a huge amount of work.

“Every penny counts & funding is so important to the work of Shropshire Disability Network” said Ruby our Chairperson. She continued “SDN is run in it’s entirety by volunteers & we are very fortunate to have some very committed volunteers, however that does not mean we have no costs.

She continued “We must ensure we have the finance to maintain & expand on our core work ie maintaining this website, producing our newsletter, provide you with quarterly meetings & be able to re-imburse necessary out of pocket expenses to volunteers as well as produce publicity material, have insurance, promote what we do & continue our signposting work that is so valuable to many people. These two days enable us to reach new people & bring in much needed funds.

So how can Alan Ward to this? At their Ennerdale Road site (Shrewsbury SY1 3LD) they now have a flexible space that can be accessed through the store & designed to open up options to hold events at the store.

What can you expect?  Shrewsbury Store Manager Andrea Cutler said “We want to give charities the opportunity to promote their work & raise some money where they don’t have to pay for a stand”.

He continued “It will also give schoolchildren and other community groups and performers the opportunity to showcase their talent and get everyone in the festive spirit. The Christmas Market is one of many public events the store is planning in its huge flexible space, which is 5,000sq ft in size.

“The stalls will need to be run by the charity representatives throughout the weekend” added Mrs Cutler.

It will be a real opportunity for people to get their Christmas cards and wrapping paper, as well as gifts knowing they will  be helping raise funds for various charities”

So we look forward to hearing the school choirs perform and may be hear a brass band, while meeting you and hopefully selling some of our Christmas Cards, items made by our members and more.
