From 1st August 2016 onwards, all organisations that provide NHS care or adult social care are legally required to follow the Accessible Information Standard.
The standard aims to make sure that people who have a disability, impairment or sensory loss are provided with information that they can easily read or understand and with support so they can communicate effectively with health and social care services.
NHS England is reviewing the Standard to assess the impact and to ensure that it is ‘fit for purpose’. The review is looking at:
- how organisations have implemented the Standard;
- the impact of the Standard, including organisations’ and service users’ experiences;
- any aspects of the Standard which need updating or clarifying.
Time for you to comment but you don’t have long! Deadline date is 10th March 2017
There are 3 surveys geared towards different groups:
- Survey for health and care professionals and organisations – online and Word document
- Survey for patients, service users, carers and parents (also available as a Word document, and in audio, braille, British Sign Language video, and easy read (and associated diversity monitoring questions, also available in easy read)
- Survey for support, supplier and representative organisations – online and Word document
