Action for Children-February 2019 Short Breaks.

Action for Children Shropshire Community Short Breaks takes place from Tuesday 19th February 2019 to Friday 22nd February 2019. (Half days are available on venue days 9.30 to 12.30 or 12.30 to 3.30) For ages 4 to 18s.

There will be a varied programme of activities taking place.  For more details including how to place your booking, payments etc and booking form, downloaded the form at this link: AFC Feb 2019

Note the deadline for return of booking forms is Friday 11th January 2019.

Living with and Beyond Cancer Programme

Macmillan Cancer Support will be holding Living Well Sessions at various venues in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin during 2019. The sessions are an opportunity for anyone with cancer, their families, friends and carers, to meet others with similar experiences enabling people to get support in a friendly and informal environment.

Event description: The local X-PERT programme is a six-week group diabetes education programme. You will learn all about the up-to-date treatments and management of diabetes, and will have the opportunity to explore and address problems/issues that you may have with your diabetes.

Raffle: We will hold our regular quarterly raffle.

Some of us like to get into the festive season by wearing Christmas Jumpers so if that is you, we would love to see them.

Other items to buy: We will have SDN wrist bands for sale, this i s a good way to raise awareness of SDN. You will also have opportunity to purchase our 10th Anniversary Badges at £1 each as well as a Safe Place Shropshire Badge at £1 each. By buying these you help us to fund our work. We will also have a table where you can buy items made by our members as well as other items. They are all very reasonably priced and will help towards paying for our meeting.

Event description: Rhythm sessions are led by Rachel Liggitt.

During these sessions Rachel leads participants through a series of enjoyable, gentle movements that stimulate the senses, improve mobility and socially engage the group. The session is mostly seated and includes a break for refreshments and a natter.

These sessions start at 2 pm and have £2 on the door entry fee (Carers go FREE).

This is an activity for people living with dementia and memory loss and their families, friends and carers.

Event description: Courtesy of SATH Engagement, we will be back in the foyer of the PRH to raise awareness of our work. We will have leaflets available for you to take away but you also have the opportunity to talk to us & sign up as a member which is FREE!

We have items made by our members on sale at very reasonable prices. We always have a stock of second hand books.

All monies raised will be used to progress our work across the county of Shropshire to help people with a disability access the information they need, provide a website, newsletter & more. Much of our work goes unseen as signposting is often confidential. We are a small charity run by volunteers and doing a huge amount of work.

May be you are a member of SDN but have never been to a meeting, would like to but you’re not sure as you don’t know other members. If so, why not come to PRH to talk to us or volunteer for an hour or so, get to know one or two of us and we can tell you more about our meetings.
