Event description: We look forward to welcoming you to our last meeting of 2018.

We have two special guest speakers. They are:

  • Richard Dunhill, who will talk about the work of the Samaritans and
  • Liz Downes from The Sequal Trust. Special Equipment and Aids for Living. The Sequal Trust, a national fundraising Charity founded in 1969 which is committed to bridging the communication gap for disabled people. By providing suitable assistive technology to people who need it most, we aim to increase the quality of life for those who are non-verbal, have incoherent speech, or who have learning and communication difficulties.

Raffle: We will hold our regular quarterly raffle and have SDN wrist bands for sale. By buying these you help us to fund our work. We will also have a table where you can buy items made by our members as well as other items. They are all very reasonably priced and will help towards paying for our meeting.

We have Sign Language Interpreters (BSL) at all our meetings. We now have a t-loop system to use at our meetings.

Event description: Safe Places Shropshire have a table with a selection of items all to be sold to raise funds for the ongoing work of Safe Place Shropshire. There are many bargains to be had. You can also find out about the Safe Place community initiative as our volunteers will be pleased to share with you.

Event description: Sainsbury’s, Telford Forge store, PR Ambassadors-Sandra and Marg with the support from the Store Manager launched a special time in store called “Friendly Hour”.

The next “Friendly Hour” will next take place today and continue on the first Monday of each month.
Anyone who would appreciate a quieter time to shop may like to take up this opportunity. While lights can not be dimmed, there will be no tannoy announcements and no music. It will be quieter with No roll cages on shop floor to cause noise.

Note: This is an initiative by the PR Ambassadors at this particular store and is not available at other stores. Watch this space for more information.

Event description: We will be holding our a bucket collection at Morrisons Wellington today.
SDN is run totally by volunteers, but still incurs running costs & without funding we can not operate. We have insurance, stationery, postage, printer costs, meeting rooms to pay for as well as needing to fund our two prime tools ie Website & Newsletter “YourVoice”. We need to reach people who have not heard about us< so we need promotional materials. An hour of your time can help us do this!

We are so grateful to the Community Champion and all at Morrisons Wellington for allowing us to raise funds at their store by holding this collection.

Event description: DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS EVENT HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED, A NEW DATE WILL BE ARRANGED WITH NATWEST BANK FOR LATER IN THE YEAR.

Recently we signed up NatWest Mardol Head, Shrewsbury to the Safe Place Community initiative. We trained 12 staff and we continue to work with Janine Loxton, Community Banker for Shropshire & Wolverhampton helping to educate the public to prevent Fraud & Scams.

With the support of Ollie Tettsall, Manager, the staff are having a cake sale to raise funds for us. This support is valuable to a charity like ours as we are all volunteers.
