Although we will not be dining with you, we will have everyone’s pre-order with the individual cost. If you would like to give me your remaining balance (if any) at the beginning we can settle the outstanding amount before we leave you to enjoy your group meal.  Joining you for the meal will be John Thatcher, with a talk about Keratoconus, this will be after the meal at around 13:30 pm.

For those of you arriving by car to the Christmas meal – you are able to access the function room from the hotel’s car park, this is all on one level.  The car park is a pay and display but if you register your registration number at reception this will be wavered, alternatively, you can give this information to Julie or myself and we can pass the information on to reception.

You will all be given a copy of the 2018 SLOG leaflets at the above events, hopefully you will enjoy what we have planned so far!

SDN invites its members to design our Christmas Cards for 2018

This is the third year that we have sold Christmas cards to raise awareness of our charity and to increase funds. For next year, we would like to invite our members to design our cards.  Many of you will have artistic skills or enjoy photography and winter is here giving us opportunities to use our skills .  You may be hoping to snap a winter scene, or getting the water colours, oil, acrylics or pencil out to create a design. This is your opportunity to get creative

There are a few rules to enter our competition.  They are:

  • To take part, you must be a registered member of Shropshire Disability Network.
  • Entries accepted must be your own work:   photographs/water colour/oil/acrylics/pencil.
  • No 3D designs.
  • Submissions from Organisations and Professionals will not be accepted.
  • You agree that if your entry is a winning design, it becomes our property to be used solely by SDN for creating our charity Christmas cards, which will be sold to support the charity.

Prize: Two designs will be chosen by independent judges shortly to be appointed by SDN. Each design will be incorporated into next year’s Christmas Cards, which will be sold in aid of Shropshire Disability Network which includes Safe Place Shropshire.  The winning designers’ names will be displayed with our logos on the back of the cards.

So, get those cameras or your art materials ready.  We are bound to see some wintry weather soon.

SDN Management Committee will consider holding an exhibition of all entries submitted.

SDN Mobile 07780 852 229 or email admin@shropshire-disability.net or

Telford Tree of Light, there is still opportunity to support.

Telford Tree of Light run by the Rotary clubs in the Telford area this year is supporting us together with Severn Hospice, Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire Blood Bikes, Wellington Cottage Care, Dementia UK [Admiral Nurses Telford & Wrekin].

To read more about it click this link: http://telfordtreeoflight.org.uk/

Our Chairperson Ruby Hartshorn attended the switch on at Telford Shopping Centre on Thursday 16th November at 16.30. The Switch-0n will be performed by Dicky Dodd, the Signal 107 Radio presenter.

“Is it too late to make a dedication?” is a frequently asked question. There is still plenty of time for names to be remembered. Dedications are guaranteed to appear around the Tree in time for Christmas so long as they are received no later than 16th December.

Telford Tree of Light application forms are available at outlets throughout the Borough. Find them at Telford Shopping Centre Customer Services, Severn Hospice shops, Wellington Civic Centre, Dawley Christian Centre, Jubilee House Madeley, Truffles in Ironbridge, Oakengates Leisure Centre and in many other shops, businesses and community venues throughout Telford.  Forms are even available on the very edge of Telford, the photograph shows the Telford Tree of Light application forms that can be collected from Oakgate Nursery & Garden Centre in Ellerdine.
