We are grateful to all at Shrewsbury Town Football Club for supporting us & allowing us to hold this bucket collection.
How will your donations be used? As well as usual running expenses-meeting rooms, a website to maintain, insurance to pay for and a newsletter we also run a laser printer (just replaced) & that needs toner, paper & other consumables.
Our work is increasing & with many people having no IT access for whatever reason, we are posting out more. We have publicity & promotion materials to pay for (leaflets, membership forms) and we are hoping to accumulate some items to purchase & provide a rolling fund enabling this part of our work to be self financing. Watch this space as we have some breaking news soon!

Event description: This is an Information Evening for Professionals & Volunteers with
Grace Barrett from the Self Esteem Team.

Shropshire has recently started work to transform mental health services for children and young people. Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have received funding from NHS England to transform Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services locally. This funding will be used to deliver the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Transformation Plan for Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing.

One of the key aims of the transformation plan is to up-skill our local workforce through training and development. Through this training and development, those who work with children and young people will be more able to identify potential mental health issues and offer appropriate advice and support to help prevent mental health issues getting worse for children and young people. We will be running a variety of training sessions and workshops for professionals and volunteers who work alongside children and young people.

The training will cover:-

  • emotional health and wellbeing,
  • early detection and intervention of emerging mental health issues,
  • skills to support self-harming behaviours and suicidal thoughts.

To mark the launch of this programme Grace Barrett one third of the multi-award winning Self Esteem Team has been invited.

Grace, along with her colleagues Natasha Devon and Nadia Mendoza were presented with an award in 2014 at the House of Commons in recognition of their services in the Education Sector. Their sessions have also received awards from the Mental Health Association & Future 50 (sponsored by Ernst & Young).
