Despite Injury, Kelda takes a positive view!

After having such a great week last week, I was so determined to build on the progress I’d made, but hey, things never go quite according to plan do they!

I picked up a bit of an injury, hopefully nothing serious, but I have to go for an MRI scan next week to check things out. It’s been frustrating as, yet again, I’ve had to back off training. At least I can still do CV and lower limb work…..so I’m going to have the strongest legs EVER!:-)

I’ve had to move my focus to other gains I can make, so I’ve spent time doing a bit of visualisation, watching lots of technical clips on You Tube and planning my pre race routine and warm up. Not exactly what I’d choose to be doing, but I guess the way to look at it is that it’ll all help me to get to where I want to go.

I often say I think of life as a Sat Nav….you put in your end goal, but sometimes things happen along the way that means you have to take a slightly different route to get there.

I see it all as part of the learning process and fingers crossed in 7-10 days I’ll be back ready to work hard.

On a more positive note, this week I also got my GB kit!!!!:-) This was such a special moment for me. From a very young age I always dreamed of representing my country, although I always believed it would be on a horse. To finally have that jacket with Great Britain written across the back was quite a surreal moment. It’s still hanging in my hall so I can keep reminding myself that this is actually happening! It just shows, you never know what great things are round the corner….you’ve just got to keep going round those corners and through those doors to give it a chance to happen!

How do you anticipate need?

Event description: The Equality Act 2010 states that there is an obligation for employers and service providers to be able to anticipate the need of a customer or employee by having reasonable adjustments in place. In December 2014 a British actress with dwarfism sued the post office for discrimination as she could not reach the chip and pin machines in their branches and their was no reasonable adjustment made in order for her to do so. This resulted in the Post Office having to change the chip and pin machines in over 300 over their biggest branches to improve accessibility as they had not previously anticipated the need of those who may be wheelchair users or, in this case, have dwarfism.

By not anticipating need, you could be risking a law suit and a substantial amount of money to be lost. But how do we anticipate the need of our employees and/or clients when the need has not already presented itself or no-one has requested a reasonable adjustment? Join the debate!

This seminar is aimed at Managing Directors, Business Owners, HR and Equality and Diversity Officers and will take a look at current equality issues impacting on business, debate its impact and look at solutions the new Wave-length Well might provide in helping employers

Join the debate on the 10th March – How do you anticipate need?

The Wave-length Well

So if 1 in 5 of your employees are likely to have a disability, mental health condition or long term health condition – How are you managing support for employees? Are they telling you they have a condition? Are you accessing all the grant support? Are busy managers often fearing to ask a member of their team ‘how are you?’ or avoid the question about Mental Health/stress levels and do you fully understand the positive and challenging impacts on your organisation of employing people with varying conditions? This is where Wave-length can help you and your organisation

We will show you the value of the new Wave-length Well the information it holds and how it can save you money by having disability employment information and training resources at your fingertips.
