Event description: This workshop is one of our Learning Together Family Workshops and is FREE to family Carers Living in Telford and Wrekin. The day will be friendly, informal and supported by Admiral Nurses. Our morning session will be about Understanding Dementia. Staying well-nutrition and hydration. and Therapeutic Touch-using hand and shoulder massage. The afternoon session will include Safe Moving and Handling -maintaining mobility, Managing unusual behaviour and Practical Activities for you and your loved one to enjoy. Places must be pre booked by calling Julia on 01743 237 888 Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Transport costs can be reimbursed and we can arrange respite care enabling you to attend but please arrange this when booking.

Event description: This is a Carers Information Day and Celebration Lunch held at The Holiday Inn Telford and is open to all carers. The theme is ‘Getting Help in Tough Times’, focusing on helping carers find financial help, get a helping hand and make the most of technology.You will have the opportunity to talk to experts in a variety of areas who could help you in your caring role. You are welcome to call in at any time to talk to us about your caring needs, browse through useful information, or simply relax and sit and talk to other carers. There will also be a limited number of free leisure passes for the Holiday Inn facilities available, so why not collect a pass and treat yourself to some relaxation either on the day or at a later date. Plus there is a Prize Raffle free to registered carers. The Senior Citizens Forum will be running a drop-in Computing session, with friendly volunteers on hand to guide you through how to make the most of using a computer and going online, even if you have never used one before. Members of our Carers Contact Centre team will be available from 10.00am and there will be various information stalls available until 12.30pm: benefits, pensions, financial advice, Carers Assessments and many more. The Carers Celebration lunch will be from 12.30pm. As requested by carers, the lunch is for carers only. “Carers Rights Day” is about getting Carers the information and advice they need to claim benefits, access practical support and find out how technology can help take the pressure off” Even if you can only drop in for a short time, this is YOUR day and we look forward to seeing you there.
