Shropshire Deaf and Hard of Hearing Forum

Start Date:
27th June 2012

End Date:
27th June 2012

Start Time:
2:00

The next meeting of the Forum will be on Wednesday, 27th  June, at 2 pm at a new venue, The Trinity Centre, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, SY3 9HF.  This is a fine, modern hall which has plenty of space for us all, level access, facilities for disabled people, a loop system and free car parking.   The Centre is just beside the church and is best reached by turning off the Roman Road into Upper Road ( just opposite Louise House Day Centre), continuing along Vicarage Road and then turning left into Church Road.   There is a free car park beside the village football field, just opposite the church and Centre.  Limited parking for blue badge holders is available immediately beside the Centre.  Hearing dogs may be present.

The main business of the day will be presentations on safety and security by the Police, Fire and Ambulance services.  These will be tailored to our needs and will include information on how to contact the emergency services.  We think that you will also be able to help them with the problems they encounter in communicating with us at the scene of an accident or emergency.

It is also time for our Annual General Meeting;   As was the case last year, we will keep the formal business (always a turn-off for meetings) to an absolute minimum.   The existing committee members are all standing for re-election, but we could badly do with more members to help with the organisation of our Deaf Aware Stall, our Facebook page and our proposed loop system campaign.  In particular, we would like to see representatives of the Deaf Clubs and Hard of Hearing Clubs.   A nomination form is attached to this notice and we really would appreciate your contribution.  The committee normally meets about once a month and offers a real opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the deaf and hearing-impaired community throughout Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
