Do you need ideas on ways to cut your energy bills?
Earlier this year the Community Council of Shropshire (CCS) hosted an energy advice drop-in event at Craven Arms Community Centre which proved to be very popular with local residents, who were able to benefit from free advice on how to reduce their energy bills.
Building on this success, CCS has decided to host more energy advice drop-in events to be held on:
Thursday 29th March from 10am to 3pm: Shrewsbury Baptist Church, Claremont Street, Shrewsbury. Supported by Severnside Housing.
The aim of events will be to help households understand how they can switch tariffs or suppliers and become more energy efficient.
There will be a range of people on hand to give advice on switching suppliers, checking that you are claiming the benefits that you may be entitled to, advice on insulation, budgeting and keeping warm and well this year!
There will be support available from various groups including:
- The Just Credit Union
- Age UK Shropshire Telford and Wrekin
- Shropshire Council
- The Mayfair Centre
- Stretton Climate Care
- Severnside Housing Association
- Community Council’s local volunteer Energy Champions and Carer’s team.
Lizzy Thain from the Community Council will also be on hand to talk about the Shropshire Oil Buying Syndicate which is becoming very popular. The scheme is aimed at bringing communities together to make the most of joint buying power so that greater savings can be made and passed on to customers. It’s a great way to keep fuel costs as low as possible and is particularly important in rural areas, where many households don’t have mains gas.
As this is a drop-in event no appointment is necessary. If you would like further information or advice, please contact Clive Leworthy on 07791 260888 or email clive.leworthy@shropshire-rcc.org.uk
