Three Day Disability Film Festival at DASH

Disability films from around the world will be shown at DASH, Disability Arts in Shropshire, from Tuesday 25^th October to Thursday 27^th.

Filmmakers have been sending in their films to DASH for the last twelve months.

On Tuesday all films will be subtitled and come from Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Sweden, Iran, Italy  and the United States.

Wednesday morning brings the focus to Learning Disability with films from the Oska Bright Film Festival based in Brighton.

Wednesday afternoon sees a return to films from around the world submitted by Disabled Artists and Filmmakers.  These films are not subtitled.

Thursday looks into the archives of MACE, showing films from the past about Learning Disability.  And to finish the afternoon session there is a brand new ‘Your Rights at Work’ short film created by Disability Law Service.

On Thursday Nicola Lane, one of the UK’s leading Disabled Filmmakers, will be showing her work and the audience will be invited to join a discussion on disability arts.

Event description: A hospice for people on the Shropshire &Wales border is calling on volunteers to help with its Santa Dash. There will be two routes-1.5 mile stroll for the family. This route has interesting festive puzzles for children and treasure hunt on route with prizes to be won and a chance to meet Santa himself. The second option for Santa dash is a 6 mile uphill running challenge not recommended for the faint-hearted. The route splits into the valley. Registration is £7 for the short run or £10 for the longer one which includes a Santa Suit, and £3 for children including reindeer antlers. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Family tickets cost £20 Call 01978314292 or register on-line to book. Closing date for registration is 25th November 2011 but if you don’t register to participate a £25 donation is expected on the day.
