SHORT BREAKS CONSULTATION EVENT

As part of the new Short Breaks Duty that came into force on 1^st April 2011 all Local Authorities are now required to produce a Short Breaks Service Statement that detailing;

• The range of services offered
• The criteria for assessing eligibility
• How services are designed to meet the needs of carers

Shropshire Council have produced a draft service statement that is currently under consultation and as part of this process PACC is hosting the above meeting to gather parents view and responses to the document.  The first half of the meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the draft statement and whether or not it provides families with all the information that they need and if it is based on a good understanding of the needs of local families.  After lunch the meeting will focus on the eligibility criteria for all Shropshire Short Breaks services which are currently under review.

This is an important opportunity to ensure that the services provided meet your needs and that there is a transparency and clarity about how services are accessed.

Age Cymru’s Big Knit 2011 Fundraiser.

Other Info:

Residents in Powys are asked to support Age Cymru’s

Big Knit by taking part to help knit 30,000 little wooly

hats which will sit on smoothie bottles made by the firm

innocent between 16th & 30th November.

For each hat wearing smoothie sold, innocent will give

25p to Age Cymru’s “Spread the Warmth” campaign to

help fund winter warmth projects across the country.

Disabled Football Club is Launched

A powerchair disability football club that  has been set up in Telford

& Wrekin partnered by conference team AFC Telford United is a

UK first.

A partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council, The Shropshire

Football Association , Telford College  of Art’s & Technology &

AFC Telford,the team will wear the club’s black & white shirts.

Open to anyone who is registered disabled, the club offers

something for everyone, from regular training sessions, to

competing in both regional & national leagues.

Neil Nash, chairman of Telford Powerchair FC says they

are always looking out for new players, having built the club

on a strong policy of inclusiveness which means everyone,

regardless of ability, age, gender are made welcome.

Regular training sessions costing £3.00 will be held at

TCAT college every Friday 6pm-8pm starting August 19th

A chance for music lovers to attend a new Festival In Shrewsbury

this Autumn. Tickets have already gone on sale and many bands and local acts are lined

up to perform. There is capacity for 2000 to attend but 1000 attendees would be great.

Bands already booked to play are Oasis tribute act Oasiz and Red Hot Chili Peppers

covers band Under The Fridge. As well as Katie Brisbourne, The Taste, Fight the Bear,

A marathon zumba dance session-hoping to break

records while raising money for charity. Taking place on indoor tennis

courts at Welti and hoipng to attract over 800 people to take part.

in an attempt to create a new zumba record. Hoping to attract

everyone from complete beginners to experienced people, club members,

visitors & friends alike to come along. All participants will receive a

special goody bag-courtesy of Tesco-Harlescott.

This will be a fun filled day for all the family. Bouncy Castle, inflatable

slide, fire engines, police cars, local stalls, BBQ and more.
