Event description: Organised by the Rotary Clubs, this event will be attended by staff from both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital. Rotary Clubs hold events each year to raise awareness of strokes, which happens when the blood is cut off and brain cells are damaged or die. Our key aim is to get the message across and make sure people have information they need about strokes so they recognise the early warning signs and act quickly. We promote the NHS Act FAST (Face,Arms,Speech, Time) campaign which we use to help raise awareness. Please come and talk to us, we shall have information avaiable for people to take away.
Event description: People can choose to walk between 2 and 8 miles, all for the benefit of Diabetes UK. Starting at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and people can choose the walk that suits them best. \”Putting Feet First Campaign\” which is being run by Diabetes Uk, explains the importance of people with diabetes to look after their feet, as complications of the condition can result in amputation. Diabetes is increasing, so the risk of foot problems increase, so it is important that comfortable socks and shoes are worn especially when walking. We hope many people will join us to raise awareness and much needed funds. I have had Type 1 diabetes for 53 years and regular walking has helped me keep in good health. So for further details give me, Caroline Holmes, chairman of Craven Arms Diabets Voluntary Group a call for further details and to register

Venue: River Severn at Low Town, Bridgnorth
Event description: Starting at Bridgnorth this will be a 10.5 mile trip along the river from Low Town in Bridgnorth to Arley. The entry fee is £30 and if people wish they can get additional sponsorship. Vicki Anderson of Broseley, event organiser is being supported by family friend Ian Kelsey who has starred in both Emmerdale and Casualty. My son Joseph suffered burns at the age of 2. He fell into a bath of hot water and was left with 76% burns. He had 15 life-saving operations at Birmingham Children\’s hospital so the \”Burnaid\” Charity based at the hospital is very close to our hearts. Joseph is now 17 and his sister Francesca 19 will join canoests for the trip. Anyone interested should contact clive@leggbrothers.co.uk
