Shropshire Council pilots a £40,000 carers project
Thursday, August 26th, 2010
It’s been reported in the Shropshire Star on 14th August that Shropshire Council has set up a £40,000 fund to benefit carers who look after sick or elderly relatives to enjoy treats such as a visit to the cinemea or theatre.
The pilot scheme has involved 400 full time carers registered with Shropshire council. Carers participating in the pilot have been given £100 worth of vouchers to use at the council’s leisure services across the county (in denominations of £1 and £5).
The Council are investigating whether to extend it further. If you are interested in finding out more about the scheme contact Shropshire Council Adult Social Care Department (details at the end of this article).
